ACTIVITY TITLE: First consultative meeting
Date : 23 rd March 2005 Venue : CRD Premises Participants : 21 prominent Mogadishu NSAs
NSAs support program set foot for the first time in Mogadishu on 23 rd March 2005 in response to this event CRD organized the first consultative meeting with some prominent figures of Benadir region. CRD Director Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle, in his key note opening speech spoke about the opportunities cotonou offers and specially to NSAs support program. He also spoke about the challenges ahead. Then, researcher M. H. Enow made a presentation on Cotonou agreement focusing in the history, objectives and provisions, the role of NSAs and Somalia and Cotonou agreement. Overall objective The overall objective of conducting this consultation meeting was to bring together members from the business community, professional associations, civil society organizations and media institutions in Mogadishu . Secondly, to introduce to them the new Cotonou NSAs support program activities and the long term objectives. Thirdly, to establish channels of communication with them, with the aim to eventually pave the way for the creation of a viable NSA forum in South central zone of Somalia. Outcome 21 Mogadishu NSAs stakeholders were for the first time introduced to the cotonou agreement provisions and the NSAs newly started program activities. |
